Champions League betting tips: Monaco no match for dazzling Dortmund

There are four places in the knockout stages up for grabs and hopefully plenty of drama to come on Matchday 6 as our Champions League predictions return.

As ever there are 16 matches across Tuesday and Wednesday and we have analysed the odds to pick five Champions League betting tips.

All five predictions can be combined to make a 40/1 football accumulator and also qualify for a 10% bonus as part of our acca bonus offer.

Here are our predictions for Matchday 6:

And if you're feeling lucky, combining all our Champions League predictions into a 5 fold will pay out around 40/1.

Club Brugge vs Atletico Madrid (Tue)

Atletico Madrid are two points clear at the top of Champions League Group A but have a worse record than Borussia Dortmund in their head-to-heads so are likely to need to beat Brugge to secure top spot.

That should not be a problem against a Brugge team with nothing to play for, with the Belgians certain to drop into the Europa League after winning just one match so far. They were beaten 3-1 in the Spanish capital thanks to an Antoine Griezmann brace and their sole success against Monaco ended a 13-match run without a win in this competition.

Monaco vs Borussia Dortmund (Tue)

Thierry Henry looked to have a tough task on his hands in his first managerial job when he took over at Monaco and so it has proved as they remain in the relegation zone. Two wins in their last three domestic games, both against fellow strugglers, has at least given them some hope of avoiding relegation but they are already certain to finish bottom of their Champions League group.

They have managed just one point and two goals from their five matches so are easy to oppose on our Champions League accumulator. Borussia Dortmund have already qualified but need to win to have a chance of topping Group A and that should be easy enough for the Bundesliga leaders.

Viktoria Plzen vs Roma (Wed)

Viktoria Plzen can still qualify for the Europa League but have looked out of their depth against the two strongest teams in Group G. Their four points so far all came against CSKA Moscow and now they only need to match CSKA's result away to holders Real Madrid to clinch third place in the group.

They have been on the receiving end of two 5-0 thrashings though, the first of which was in Rome on Matchday 1 when Edin Dzeko netted a hat-trick, and we expect the Italians to complete the double over them.

Ajax vs Bayern Munich (Wed)

Both of these teams have secured their places in the Champions League last 16 and Bayern Munich now head to Amsterdam needing a point to win Group E. Neither side has been beaten during the group stage, with Bayern completing the double over Benfica and AEK Athens but being held to a 1-1 draw by Ajax in Munich.

Bayern are the evens favourites to beat Ajax in the Champions League betting but have struggled at times this season and are nine points off the pace in the Bundesliga title race. They have a team packed with experience though and we think they will have the know-how to get the draw they need.

Young Boys vs Juventus (Wed)

Juventus have been in incredible form in Serie A this season, dropping just two points in their first 15 matches. They would also have a perfect record in the Champions League had they not conceded two late goals at home to Manchester United to slip to a surprising defeat.

That means they go into their final match needing a win to top the group and that makes the Italian champions an easy pick for our Champions League predictions, with Young Boys already certain to finish bottom.

Traders' Tips - View from the trading floor

We're not expecting any Dutch delight on Matchday 6 with defeats predicted for PSV Eindhoven and Ajax against Inter Milan and Bayern Munich respectively. Go for Juventus to beat Young Boys and Borussia Dortmund to defeat Monaco, too, to complete a Champions League 4 fold paying just under 6/1.
