Champions League odds: City can run riot against Shakhtar again

Tottenham and Manchester City are in action away from home on Wednesday night and both teams feature in our Champions League betting tips.

Last season's runners-up Spurs travel to Olympiacos, and Champions League favourites City meet familiar foes Shakhtar Donetsk.

Our Champions League tips can be backed at more than 150/1 in a five-fold acca which qualifies for a 10% bonus thanks to the BetStars acca bonus offer.

Champions League betting tips: September 18

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Manchester City

City are 10/3 in the Champions League odds 2019 to finally win the tournament their owners crave as they get their campaign under way against Shakhtar, a team they are facing in the group stage for the third successive season.

Pep Guardiola's side blew away the Ukrainians home and away last year, winning 3-0 in eastern Europe and smashing them for six in the return leg, so small wonder they are 2/7 in the Champions League odds to start with three points.

But in the absence of key defender Aymeric Laporte, the Premier League champions lost 3-2 at Norwich over the weekend and questions have been asked about Kyle Walker in the build-up to the game.

Kevin de Bruyne was on the bench at Carrow Road and is likely to be unleashed from the start in Kharkiv where we expect City to win by at least two goals at 37/20 in the Champions League betting just as they did home and away last season.

Shakhtar have won all seven of their league matches in the Ukrainian top flight but City are a cut above the kind of teams the Ukrainians have faced, so the visitors are backed to win comfortably as the first of our Champions League betting tips.

Olympiacos vs Tottenham

Tottenham have a much easier group than last season when they were drawn against Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven, and start at 10/11 in the Champions League odds to win their first match at Olympiacos.

Mauricio Pochettino's side warmed up for Wednesday with a thumping 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, while the Greeks went one better in winning 5-0 to top the table with three wins from three in the early part of the season.

Olympiacos came through three qualifiers to reach the group stage, winning all three home games without conceding and only letting in one goal overall.

Their defence has not been breached at home in the league either, but Spurs - 25/1 in the Champions League winners odds - will be a different proposition so a win for the visitors looks likely on Wednesday.

The Greeks have bagged 16 goals in their five home matches in all competitions, so Spurs to win and both teams to score is the next of our Champions League tips.

PSG vs Real Madrid

For those who like a Champions League bet, the most glamorous match of the night sees 13-time champions Real Madrid - 8/1 in the Champions League winner odds - travel to PSG, who are without suspended striker Neymar.

The Brazilian's three-match ban for insulting match officials on social media after his side's 3-1 defeat by Manchester United last season has been reduced to two, but he still misses the game.

There is plenty of attacking talent on display on both sides, though, and goals seem likely at Le Parc des Princes which witnessed 18 in PSG's group and knockout matches last season, with goals at both ends in all four matches.

Both teams to score is just 40/85 but instead Champions League bet odds of 7/5 for over 3.5 goals look the way to go bearing in mind three of Real Madrid's first four Liga matches have produced four or more goals.

Bayern Munich vs Red Star Belgrade

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are just 1/16 in the Champions League betting odds to defeat Red Star Belgrade, who surprisingly beat Liverpool in the group stage last season.

Robert Lewandowski struck eight times in last season's competition and is the sixth highest scorer of all time with 53 goals.

The Poland striker has started like a house on fire this season, scoring seven goals in his first four Bundesliga matches, breaking the deadlock on three occasions.

Lewandowski to score first at 9/5 is added to our Champions League bet predictions for tonight.

Brugge vs Galatasaray

We wrap up our Champions League betting tips by predicting at least one team not to score in the clash between Brugge and Galatasaray.

Brugge have kept four clean sheets in their first six games in an unbeaten start in Belgium and they conceded just once at home in their two Champions League qualifiers which also included a 1-0 win at Linz.

Last season, the Turks failed to score in all four of their away games in the Champions League and Europa League, so one team not to score at 11/10 wraps up Wednesday's tips.
