Chelsea vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Here are our best tips for the FA Cup tie for which we also have a range of other markets available:

The lowdown

United have been handed another tough draw in their pursuit of a 13th FA Cup success following their trip to Arsenal in the fourth round.

With so many Premier League teams already out of the competition though, United will fancy their chances of winning some silverware if they come through this.

They will also be out for revenge in the FA Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in last season's final, while they were denied a league victory at Stamford Bridge by Ross Barkley's late equaliser in October.

United are looking to bounce back from defeat for the first time since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho but they can be encouraged by the domestic form which saw them win 10 out of his first 11 matches.

Midfielder Ander Herrera insists United will not be too downhearted at the end of their unbeaten run, saying after the PSG loss: "I think the game was tight until the first goal. We couldn't say we were the better team, but they were not better than us either.

"So now we have good examples. We won away against Tottenham, we won against Arsenal. They are teams that are as good as PSG, so we will go there to try and make it difficult for them.

"Right now, we have to think about the FA Cup against Chelsea and keep our place in the top four."

Tuesday night was the first time United have failed to score under Solskjaer but they should find Chelsea easier to break down based on the defending which saw the Blues concede six at City and four at Bournemouth.

With replays having been scrapped in the fifth round, both teams have the incentive to try to win the match in 90 minutes so the first of our Chelsea vs Manchester United predictions is over 2.5 goals at 5/6.

First goalscorer tips

Paul Pogba's red card on Tuesday compounded a bad night for United but the midfielder's suspension will only apply to the second leg of the Champions League tie and he remains available for Sunday's game.

Pogba has scored eight goals in his last nine domestic games and with a point to prove after his midweek dismissal, we're backing him at 6/1 in the first goalscorer odds.

Anytime goalscorer tips

Injuries to Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard did not help United's cause in midweek and their absences could mean opportunities for Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata, who came on as substitutes.

Sanchez is 23/10 to find the net for only the third time this season but Mata has five goals already and is a much bigger price at 9/2 to add to his tally against his former club.

Where the game will be won or lost

Chelsea's hopes of a top-four finish suffered a setback with last week's humiliation at the Etihad Stadium but they could still end the campaign with three trophies if all goes to plan in the next couple of weeks.

They face City again in the Carabao Cup final next week and they are one of the favourites in the FA Cup outright betting heading into their clash with United, having enjoyed a smooth passage to the fifth round by beating Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

To do so, Sarri must get a response from a group of players that he described as "extremely difficult to motivate" after a recent defeat to Arsenal, while there was a long dressing-room inquest following the 4-0 loss at Bournemouth.

All does not seem well at Stamford Bridge and we have more confidence in United quickly bouncing back from a setback than Chelsea.

The Blues have been priced up as the favourites at 23/20, presumably due to them having home advantage, but United have won at Arsenal and Tottenham recently and look good value at 47/20 for the win in 90 minutes.

Backing United for a fast start has proved to be a profitable betting plan recently so we'll stick with a winning formula. We correctly tipped them to be leading 2-0 at half-time at Fulham last weekend at 8/1 and they had been leading at the interval in six of their previous seven games until meeting their match against PSG.

They have also had an extra 48 hours to prepare for this game, with Chelsea having to travel back from Sweden on Thursday night, so United to be leading at half-time and full-time at 19/4 looks worth the extra risk to complete our Chelsea vs Manchester United betting tips, especially having seen how Chelsea's heads dropped in the face of an early onslaught from City.

Traders' Tips - View from the trading floor

Manchester United's Champions League hopes are now hanging by a thread but their domestic form is much better than Chelsea's and they appeal at 47/20 to repeat their victory at Arsenal in the previous round.
