Liverpool vs Manchester City Betting Tips

Here are our best tips for the match and we also have a range of other markets available:

The lowdown

Manchester City may have romped to the Premier League title last season but they lost three of their four encounters with Liverpool.

City took advantage of Sadio Mane's early dismissal to win the first meeting 5-0 at the Etihad but it was all red after that as the Merseysiders gained revenge with a 4-3 victory at Anfield before easing into the Champions League semi-finals with a 5-1 aggregate win.

Liverpool had a disappointing night in Italy on Wednesday night but Napoli have a better pedigree than Hoffenheim so perhaps we should not read too much into that result.

Instead, the first of our Premier League predictions is for Liverpool to win at 6/4 against a City outfit still missing Kevin de Bruyne.

The Reds have an excellent home record against City, winning this fixture on the last six occasions if we include last season's 3-0 Champions League win.

First goalscorer tips

Mo Salah does not quite look the same player as last season but he broke the deadlock in two of the four games against Manchester City last season.

The Egyptian still tops the expected goals chart over the last 10 games with an aggregate of 7.1 and is the next of our free football tips to open the scoring at 4/1.

Anytime goalscorer tips

Leroy Sane is a man with a point to prove after being left out of Germany's World Cup squad and he certainly looked dangerous against Hoffenheim.

The winger set up Sergio Aguero's equaliser on Tuesday and was denied a clear penalty in the second half. He also scored three times against Liverpool last season so 13/5 in the anytime goalscorer odds looks good value.

Where the game will be won or lost

These two teams occupied the top two slots in attack in expected goals terms last season and the same is true in the current campaign.

Goals featured heavily with all four matches producing three goals or more and there is no reason to suggest that won't be the case this time around.

The deadlock was broken early on in all those games, with Liverpool opening the scoring inside the first 10 minutes twice and once in the 12th minute.

Looking at the timing graphic, both teams are threatening in the early stages so we're going for the first goal to be scored between 11-20 minutes at 4/1 as the next of our Liverpool vs Manchester City betting tips.

Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 31/10 is the last of our Premier League predictions. The Reds have conceded in six of their last seven matches in all competitions and goals have been seen at both ends in five of the last seven Premier League meetings between these teams at Anfield.

Team news

Liverpool are waiting on the fitness of midfielder Naby Keita who was carried off with a back spasm during the Champions League loss to Napoli on Wednesday and manager Jurgen Klopp was unsure whether he would be able to train ahead of the match. If Keita does not make it, Jordan Henderson is likely to start.

Kevin De Bruyne has a chance of featuring after returning to training following a knee injury. Left-back Benjamin Mendy is also back in contention after recovering from a foot problem but midfielder Ilkay Gundogan (hamstring) is doubtful.

Traders' Tips - View from the trading floor

The result is tough to call in this one but surely one thing that can be guaranteed is goals. Both teams like to play on the front foot and produced 18 goals in four meetings last season so over 3.5 looks the way to go here at 8/5.
