Liverpool vs Napoli: Italians value to dash Reds' Champions League bid

Liverpool vs Napoli Match Preview and Predictions

Liverpool are drinking in the last-chance saloon in the Champions League and must beat Napoli on Tuesday to have a hope of reaching the knockout stage.

Beating the Italians may not be enough with the only scenarios guaranteeing a place in the round of 16 being a 1-0 win or a two-goal margin of victory or better.

Napoli, unbeaten at the top of Group C with nine points, just need a draw to progress on what should be another special European night at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Napoli Betting Tips

Here are our Champions League predictions for the match for which we also have a range of other markets available:

The lowdown

The permutations look slightly complicated for Liverpool but they know what they must do to avoid dropping into the Europa League, although even that is not guaranteed if they fail to beat Napoli and Red Star Belgrade pull off a shock victory over PSG.

The Reds start the match as 8/13 favourites despite conceding a last-minute goal in a 1-0 defeat in Naples where they surprisingly failed to have a shot on target and the hosts also hit the crossbar.

Jurgen Klopp's side warmed up for this match with an impressive 4-0 win at Bournemouth, a scoreline replicated by the Italians against struggling Frosinone at the weekend.

Napoli have been impressive on the road domestically, winning five from seven, and in Europe where they were just seconds away from beating PSG only for Angel di Maria to curl in a superb left-footed equaliser three minutes into stoppage time.

In our view Carlo Ancelotti's side, second in Serie A, have been underestimated and so the first of our Liverpool vs Napoli predictions is for Napoli to win at 17/4.

Champions League previews: Matchday 6

If you're interested in tips on the Champions League this week, check out our in-depth previews below:

First goalscorer tips

Lorenzo Insigne has not scored in his last five games for Napoli but scored the dramatic winner against Liverpool, broke the deadlock against PSG in the French capital and struck the equaliser from the spot in the reverse fixture.

The Italy striker has seven goals to his name in Serie A and scored first in six of his 14 matches across all competitions, so looks excellent value at 15/2 to be first goalscorer.

Anytime goalscorer tips

Arkadiusz Milik is building up a head of steam heading into the match and he gets our vote in the anytime scorer odds at 11/5.

The Polish striker bagged two against Frosinone at the weekend having scored a late winner at Atalanta three minutes after coming on as a substitute five days earlier.

Where the game will be won or lost

Liverpool will have to draw upon their attacking instincts if they are to continue their Champions League odyssey and the good news is that Sadio Mane could feature on Tuesday night.

The Senegal attacker missed the win against Burnley with a cut foot sustained during the Merseyside derby but came on for the last 25 minutes of Saturday's win at the Vitality Stadium.

We expect Liverpool to burst out of the blocks against Napoli backed by a passionate Scouse crowd and the next of our Liverpool vs Napoli betting tips is over 1.5 goals in the first half at 13/10.

That's been the case in four of Liverpool's group games and in both matches at Anfield so with the pressure on them to score we could be in for another exciting start.

Finally, we're backing the first goal to be scored between 21-30 minutes at 5/1. Two of the Reds' matches came during this spell and Roberto Firmino's opener against Red Star Belgrade was just a few seconds shy.
