Newport vs Leicester: Exiles can cause FA Cup stir against Foxes
Newport vs Leicester Match Preview and Predictions
The first meeting between Newport and Leicester takes place on Sunday when they clash in the third round of the FA Cup in front of the BBC cameras.
[All odds correct at time of publication]
The League Two side enjoyed a magical run in the FA Cup last season when they eliminated Leeds in the third round with two goals in the last 15 minutes and went close to beating Tottenham, only for Harry Kane to send the game to a replay which Spurs won 2-0 at Wembley.
Leicester went close to losing to Fleetwood in the third round last season but won a replay before reaching the semi-finals which ended in heartache as Chelsea grabbed an extra-time winner through Pedro.

Newport vs Leicester Betting Tips
Here are our best tips for the Newport vs Leicester FA Cup tie for which we also have a range of other markets available:
Newport needed a replay against Welsh rivals Wrexham to reach the third round for the second successive year and they are priced at 9/1 to cause an upset on Sunday.
Last season, the Exiles avenged a 5-1 League Cup drubbing by Leeds with a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup and were just eight minutes away from knocking out Tottenham who started with Kane, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Kieran Trippier and Jan Vertonghen, but still needed to throw on Dele Alli and Son Heung-min to force the tie to a replay.
🎥 Here's what Claude Puel said to LCFC TV shortly after #EveLei...-- Leicester City (@LCFC) January 2, 2019
Just like last season Newport have been very strong at home with seven wins and just two defeats from their 12 games and with Leicester expected to field a weakened squad as they did at Fleetwood a year ago, the first of our Newport vs Leicester predictions is for the home team to win or draw at 49/20.
The Foxes did not manage a shot on target against Fleetwood and although their opponents that day were in a higher division than Newport, we expect a similar outcome.
Padraig Amond and Jamille Matt have formed an excellent strike partnership with a combined 18 goals between them, just over half of the club's total goals, and they can cause problems for what could be a new-look Leicester defence.
First goalscorer tips
Padraig Amond broke the deadlock against the Met Police and in the replay against Wrexham and we fancy the 30-year-old Irishman to break the deadlock again at 10/1.
The former Hartlepool striker has five goals in his last six appearances and will savour the chance to show what he can do in front of the cameras.
Anytime goalscorer tips
Newport have only twice failed to score at home this season and with that in mind, Jamille Matt looks like he can produce a gloss finish in the anytime goalscorer odds (yes, we've been watching Jeff Stelling for too long) at 14/5.
The former Blackpool forward has eight goals from 17 appearances this season and also scored in both FA Cup ties so he will be keen to keep his run going like Amond.
Where the game will be won or lost
Leicester have picked up nine points from a possible 12 which has lifted them to seventh place in the Premier League table.
Twelve points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, a Champions League spot is looking unlikely but Claude Puel is still likely to rest some of his big-name players after a hectic festive period just as he did at Fleetwood when he picked the likes of Matty James, Yohan Benalouane, Daniel Amartey and Harvey Barnes, while Islam Slimani toiled up front.
Newport have the third leakiest defence in League Two at home, conceding 20 goals, and half of their matches at Rodney Parade have produced over 3.5 goals which is priced at 5/4.
That looks tempting at that price but with too many unknown factors on Leicester's side, we're going with Newport to score first at 3/1 and a draw at 17/4.
The Welshmen held a strong Spurs outfit last season and beat Leeds, so we are hopeful they can take the tie to a replay against a much-changed Leicester team.
Traders' Tips - View from the trading floor
Newport are one of the top performers in the both teams to score market in League Two with 16 of their 25 matches seeing goals at both ends - the third highest in the division. Six of Leicester's 11 matches on the road have also produced goals at both ends, so take the 9/10 on BTTS at Rodney Parade.
