Tottenham vs PSV Eindhoven: Go for goals in Wembley win for Spurs

Tottenham vs PSV Eindhoven Match Preview and Predictions

Defeat for Tottenham at home to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday evening would put a big dent in their European hopes as they battle for third place in Group B of the Champions League.

[All odds correct at time of publication]

Both sides collected their first point of the campaign in the 2-2 draw at PSV Stadion following defeats to Barcelona and Inter Milan on the opening two matchdays.

The winner of the Wembley clash could still squeeze into the knockout phase if results go their way, but a draw will do neither team any good and it is likely to be Europa League football for one of these sides.

Tottenham vs PSV Eindhoven Betting Tips

Here are our best tips for Tuesday's match for which we also have a range of other markets available:

The lowdown

Tottenham have lost their last two home matches at Wembley in the Champions League, last season's round-of-16 second leg to Juventus and the 4-2 defeat to Barcelona at the start of October.

However, Spurs have a great home record against Dutch opposition, losing just once in seven matches which came against PSV in the UEFA Cup 10 years ago.

PSV's record in England does not bode well, having only secured victory on one occasion from nine attempts, while losing five.

The Dutch outfit's last Champions League triumph away from home came against CSKA Moscow in 2007, but they have scored 53 goals in 18 matches in all competitions this season.

It is hard to imagine PSV not scoring at Wembley but due to their poor away form, we fancy Tottenham to come out on top with both teams to score at 33/20 as the first of our Champions League predictions.

Feature match previews for this week

If you're interested in tips on our feature Champions League matches for this week, check out our in-depth previews below:

First goalscorer tips

Harry Kane has already grabbed two Champions League goals and has seven in total from 13 games in all competitions this season.

The England striker has opened the scoring in three Premier League matches this campaign and is priced at 9/4 to make it four at Wembley.

Anytime goalscorer tips

Eric Lamela is on a great run of form having scored his sixth goal in 10 matches in all competitions in Saturday night's 3-2 win at Wolves.

The Argentinean midfielder was on target in the 4-2 home defeat by Barcelona in the Champions League and with doubts surrounding Dele Alli's inclusion after he was left out of the squad on Saturday, Lamela looks an interesting prospect in the anytime scorer market at 19/10.

Where the game will be won or lost

Both sides will be desperate to win and continue their European adventure, either in the Champions League knockout phase or in the Europa League, which could open up the game.

The reverse fixture was a slow burner which eventually turned into an entertaining 2-2 draw with a disallowed first-half goal and a late red card.

Spurs have Jan Vertonghen injured and Eric Dier possibly missing which leads to the second of our Tottenham v PSV betting tips.

PSV have scored 22 goals in eight away matches in all competitions this season, which included a 4-0 loss at Barcelona while winning the other seven games. They have proved they can breach the Spurs backline early on too, with Hirving Lozano breaking the deadlock in the first half in Eindhoven so the next predictiion is for the visitors to score over 0.5 goals in the first half at 17/10.

We called it right on over 2.5 goals at 13/20 for the game in Holland but with so much riding on this match there may well be more than that at Wembley, so our last tip is for over 3.5 total goals - like the reverse fixture - at 6/5.

Team news

Mousa Dembele is Tottenham's latest injury concern. The Belgium midfielder suffered an ankle injury in the 3-2 win at Wolves on Saturday and is awaiting the results of a scan. He joins Eric Dier (thigh), Danny Rose (groin), Jan Vertonghen (hamstring) and Victor Wanyama (knee) in the treatment room while Hugo Lloris is suspended.

Traders' Tips - View from the trading floor

Both teams have scored in each of Tottenham's three Champions League matches and they were far superior to the Dutch in Eindhoven despite the match ending in a 2-2 draw. PSV have won all 11 matches in the Eredvisie this season, netting 39 goals.
