Tottenham vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Here are our best tips for the International Champions Cup match for which we also have a range of other markets available:

The lowdown

The standard of opposition for Manchester United has increased during pre-season and they face their toughest test so far when they take on Tottenham.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are yet to concede a goal after enjoying 2-0 and 4-0 wins against Perth Glory and Leeds United in Australia.

They then managed a 1-0 win against Inter Milan in front of a sell-out crowd at Singapore's National Stadium at the weekend when Mason Greenwood grabbed the only goal.

United outplayed Inter for the most part of an intense game and finally made the breakthrough after Solskjaer made 10 changes with a third of the International Champions Cup encounter remaining.

Summer signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka earned United's man-of-the-match award and has played his part in a solid defensive effort during pre-season.

"We're building a team and Wan-Bissaka did really well," said Solskjaer. "He's hard to go past and he was going forward as well so I'm very pleased with his performance and the team's performance.

"We've had three games and not conceded any goals so we're looking strong as a defensive unit."

United had problems in defence last season and it will be interesting to see how they cope against a Tottenham team that clinched a 3-2 win against Juventus on Sunday thanks to Harry Kane's stunning strike in injury time.

The humidity in China could affect the intensity of the game and with United focused on defensive improvements, the first of our Tottenham vs Manchester United predictions is under 2.5 goals at 23/20.

First goalscorer tips

Lucas Moura had to settle for a place on Tottenham's bench in the Champions League final and he has spoken of his determination to use that disappointment to spur him on this season.

He netted twice against United in August and was also on target against Juventus so should be full of confidence. Take the Brazilian at 6/1 in the the first goalscorer odds.

Anytime goalscorer tips

Ashley Young was booed upon his introduction in Singapore, although his free-kick hushed his vocal critics and resulted in Greenwood scoring his second goal in as many games.

Young skippered the side for much of last season and although the arrival of Wan-Bissaka may mean he gets less time on the pitch this season, his versatility means he is likely to remain part of Solskjaer's plans and he catches the eye at 17/2 in the anytime goalscorer odds.

Where the game will be won or lost

Tottenham's matches against Manchester United last season summed up their Premier League season in many ways.

They outclassed United with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford in August which marked them out as potential title contenders but their challenge faded when they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Wembley in January.

David de Gea was the star of the show on that occasion with a string of fine saves as Tottenham laid siege to the United goal but could not beat the Spaniard.

The signing of Wan-Bissaka has bolstered United's defence but Tottenham still look to have the edge when both teams are at full strength.

Tottenham are without goalkeeper Hugo Lloris due to tonsillitis so Paulo Gazzaniga should again start in goal.

Dele Alli is fit and refreshed after an injury-plagued campaign last year and his partnership with Kane can give Tottenham the edge.

We're backing Spurs to win at 29/20 and given we're not expecting a feast of goals, the last of our Tottenham vs Manchester United betting tips is to take the BetStars Odds Boost of 3/1 for the north Londoners to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1.

Traders' Tips - View from the trading floor

Tottenham were involved in an open game against Juventus before snatching a 3-2 victory in the dying moments and United's problems in defence last season could be exposed again here so both teams to score looks the best bet in Shanghai.
