What is Sports Betting?
If you’ve never tried sports betting before, then making your first wager might seem a little daunting. But don’t worry, there’s not much to it. Different events may feature different betting markets and opportunities, but in its simplest form, sports betting is placing money on whether you think an outcome will happen or not. Your goal is to win money by making the correct prediction.
It could be that Chelsea will win the cup, the Lakers will make the playoffs, or something more obscure, like who will win Eurovision. If you can think of it, chances are you can bet on it.

Understanding the Odds
Knowing how odds work in sports betting is a key to being successful. When logged into the BetStars sports betting you can change how odds are shown for each event, with popular fractional, decimal and American formats available. To choose your preferred option go to the Sports page. If you are not logged in, the odds format shown will be based on your location.
Decimal odds are the easiest to understand, and shows you what you will get back for a $1 bet on any individual selection. For example - Manchester United to beat Chelsea 1-0 at of 7.50 mean that, for every $1 you have on Manchester United, you will get a return of $7.50 ($6.50 profit and your $1 stake back) if your bet is successful.
Don’t forget: in certain circumstances, even if you bet on a loser, you may get your money back. At BetStars we will offer money back specials, enhanced odds and bonuses on selected events and bet types, ensuring you get the best value every time you place a bet with us.

Know your bet types
From single bets to goliaths, there is a range of sports bets available on BetStars, each with its own set of payout rules and criteria. You can find a full list of bet types BetStars offers right here, or see below for a quick list of some of the most common types.
- Single Bet
A single is the easiest bet you can place. It is a bet on one selection in an event, such as first goalscorer or match winner. To be successful and win money, your selection must be correct.
- Multiple Bets
A multiple bet is a bet on two or more individual events, such as Manchester United to beat Liverpool and Everton to beat Chelsea. Multiple bets can come in a number of different formats, such as doubles, trebles, yankees and many more.
An accumulator bet involves making different selections, such as the match winners in different matches, in a single bet. To win, you must correctly predict all results. Accumulators are available up to a maximum of 20 selections. Similar bets of just 2 and 3 selections are simply called ‘doubles’ and ‘trebles’ respectively.
